Fadlu Davids’ Simba SC have taken control of top spot in the Tanzania NBC Premier League after defending champions Young Africans SC suffered a shock 3-1 loss to Tabora United.
After 10 matches in the Tanzanian Premier League, Simba find themselves in the driving seat for the first time this season after Young Africans suffered their second successive defeat.
Five days ago, Yanga narrowly lost 1-0 to Azam FC which now leaves them second with 24 points from 10 matches while Simba, who have scored the most goals in the league (21) and conceded the least (3), are sitting on 25 points from the same number of matches.
Simba last won the league title in the 2020/21 season, since then Yanga has won three league titles in a row. Davids’ hope to bring back the glory days at Simba seems to be taking great shape even though there are still 20 matches to play this season, but this is a sign of hope for the Simba supporters.
