Davids’ Starts Simba Reign With Comfortable Win

Fadlu Davids’ Simba SC thrashed Egyptian second division side El-Qanah 3-0 in a pre-season friendly.

Davids was recently appointed as the Simba coach on a two-year deal after he had a good spell at Raja Athletic Club as assistant coach to Jozef Zinnbauer, winning the league title unbeaten as well as the Throne Cup.

The former Orlando Pirates assistant coach last led a club two seasons ago when Maritzburg United got relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

On Monday, Davids’ new side beat El-Qanah 3-0 thanks to goals by new signings Jean Charles Ahoua, who scored a brace, and Augustine Okejepha.

Reds of Msimbazi are currently in Egypt for pre-season, where Davids and his South African technical team around Conditioning Coach Riedoh Berdien, assistant Darian Wilken and analyst Mueez Kajee.

Simba haven’t won the NBC Premier League since the 2020/21 season, and things became even worse when they failed to qualify for the CAF Champions League after finishing third in the league last season.

The appointment of Davids is viewed as hope to awaken the sleeping giant of Tanzania football.
