Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies opened their 2026 COSAFA CAFWCL Qualifiers with a 8-0 thumping of Eswatini outfit Nsingizini Hotspurs at Gaborone United Stadium on Friday afternoon.
With just nine minutes on the clock, Lelona Daweti was on the end of Isabella Ludwig’s low cross to slot home and make 1-0.

Ludwig turned from provider to scorer, heading home from a tight angle to double Sundowns’ lead in the 11th minute.
Daweti almost grabbed her brace of the afternoon with a sublime header but her effort was tipped over the bar by the Hotspurs goalkeeper.
It was 3-0 in the 16th minute with Refilwe Tholakele slotting home low into the right corner.
Daweti made up for her earlier miss with two thunderous shots to net two goals in two minutes for her hat-trick and a healthy 5-0 lead.
In the 30th minute, Tholakele got her second from close range to make it 6-0 for the South African champions.
Downs Ladies went into the half-time break with a 7-0 advantage after Tholakele also grabbed her hat-trick by following up on her effort with a rebound from her saved shot.
The second period was no different as floodgates continued opening with seven becoming 8-0 in the 76th minute through Sandra Mugwara.
They next face Costa Du Sol of Mozambique before wrapping up Group B against Malawi’s Silver Strikers.
