Former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer is on the verge of finishing the Botola Pro League unbeaten with Raja Athletic Club but might still not win the league title.
Zinnbauer joined Raja at the end of last season after he had a short stint at Lokomotiv Moskow, roping in another former Buccaneers coach in Fadlu Davids as his assistant.
The German tactician has been in charge of 34 matches in Morocco in all competitions, and only lost one so far. However, in 2023/24 he is still unbeaten in league and cup.
Raja are currently sitting second in the Botola Pro after 26 matches, winning 17 matches while drawing nine and they are yet to lose.
But despite that impressive record, Zinnbauer’s side find themselves four points behind league leaders AS FAR with four matches to go. AS FAR, who are coached by former Young Africans Nasreddine Nabi, who was in talks with Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the season, have 20 games, drawn four and lost just twice.
The Green Eagles have already secured their CAF Champions League qualification for next season after missing out this campaign. The People’s Club also have a chance to win the Coupe du Trone, as they in the quarter-finals.
Raja are currently the second-highest scoring team in the Botala Pro with 43 goals after AS FAR, who have netted an impressive 57 goals. But JZ’s side remains the best defensive side, having only conceded 14 times.
