Frustrated Rulani Not Happy After Wydad Drop Points

Rulani Mokwena said it was a difficult day for him personally after Wydad Athletic Club dropped two crucial points in a goalless stalemate against CODM.

Wydad had a five-match winning streak heading into the match, a feat they last achieved in 2019. The Red Castle had an opportunity to extend their winning streak to six matches and keep their hopes of returning to the CAF Champions League alive.

Unfortunately, a goalless draw against CODM left Mokwena visibly frustrated after the game. The South African mentor returned to the dugout for the first time since his grandmother’s passing.

“I don’t like the grass at the stadium, I don’t like the feeling from the fans today, too tense, I don’t know if we are a team that has not improved enough to have fans backing us, supporting us, our fans were so tense, I could feel it, the players could feel it, a lot of things today I didn’t like,” Mokwena told the media.

“Don’t make that mistake and say he is using excuses no! No! I told you the first person to blame for the draw today is Rulani Mokwena. Do not make that mistake. Football is a game where everything matters and if we play in our home stadium, we have a technical game. I don’t think I was brought here because I look good or I’m handsome, no, I think I was brought here because of the style of football I play, and if we can’t play that in our home stadium it becomes very very difficult. I am very unhappy coach today this is the worst I have felt since I’ve come to Morocco.”

The gap between Wydad and RS Berkane has grown significantly, now at 15 points with eight games remaining. Meanwhile, the game between them and third-placed ASFAR is three points.
