Malawi and Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango has commented on his wonder goal in the Africa Cup of Nations, which many believe should be the Goal of the Tournament.
The 29-year-old’s stunning goal came in the seventh minute in the match against one time AFCON winners Morocco at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.
Mhango’s strike has quickly gained a recognition from fans, even though it wasn’t enough to prevent the Flames AFCON exit, with Mhango believing it could be the best goal he’s ever scored.
“Yeah, I think that’s my best goal ever,” he said on Ultimate Sports Show.
“It was a good score from maybe 40-yards away to a goal, so I think that’s my favorite goal because I never scored a goal from there.
“The only player that I have been watching scoring that kind of those goals is Hlompho Kekana, that’s all, so I think is my favourite goal.”
The Malawian international star also believes that the team’s performance has shown supporters how good they are.
“I think this time we made the supporters to believe that we can do better,” he said.
“Even in the coming tournaments, I think we are going to improve more in our game.
“There were a lot of people who have been doubting in my country, they have been doubting that Malawi national team doesn’t do well.”
