Wydad Athletic Club head coach Rulani Mokwena reveals that attacker Cassius Mailula is currently nursing a hamstring injury which saw him miss their huge Throne Cup win over FUS Rabat.
The Red Castle has more than 10 years not winning the Throne Cup, and Mokwena’s ambition is to end the drought of not winning this trophy so far, as they are on a good track after advancing to the last 16.

Mailula started on the bench against Rabat, which was his fourth straight game from the bench and last started against CODM towards the end of February.
Mokwena explained that Mailula has been playing with a hamstring injury in the last three to four weeks hence, last night, he decided to start him on the bench and at least give him the last 10 to 15 minutes. He also mentioned that the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch and Samuel Obieng are also in the similar situation.
“Cassius has got a hamstring injury and he’s been playing the last three or four weeks with a hamstring injury, even Lorch, even Obieng if you saw towards the end, he was holding his hamstring so I’m very scared of losing more players,” Mokwena told the media.
“We’ve got a long injury list, so if we lose Cassius, we lose Lorch, we are a bit thin now.
“I’m just being protective giving him 10 to 15 minutes because he wants to help the team but he’s struggling with the hamstring.”
