Morocco Announce Squad For Bafana Clash

Morocco coach Walid Regragui has announced his Morocco squad for the upcoming clashes against Bafana Bafana and Cape Verde.

The Atlas Lions are currently in 11th spot in the latest FIFA rankings, after their record-breaking run to the semi-finals at the FIFA World Cup.

Following wins over Spain and Portugal, Morocco were held in the semi-final by France before losing the third-place play-off to Croatia. But they continued their impressive form with a 2-1 win against Brazil and a goalless draw with Peru in the March international break.

They have already qualified for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations after starting the Group K with a 2-0 win over Liberia and a 2-1 over South Africa.

The latter have since joined them and booked their ticket for Ivory Coast, after a 2-2 draw and 2-1 victory over Liberia.

Morocco will face Bafana in their penultimate group stage match on 17 June, and have also set up a friendly against Cape Verde on 12 June.

Regragui has called up a fairly familiar squad, which includes the likes of Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), Nayef Aguerd (West Ham), Sofyan Amrabat (Fiorentina), Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea) and Youssef En-Nesyri (Sevilla).
