Former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has been announced as the new coach of Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
The Spanish mentor was in charge of Pirates since the beginning of the 2023/24 season and lifted five trophies with the Buccaneers.

However, he had opted not to extend his contract that was originally running out on 30 June 2025. This week, the Buccaneers confirmed he had requested an early termination to “join a new club” – a request that was granted by the club.
Today, Al Ahly confirmed that Riveiro will become the club’s new head coach, replacing Marcel Koller.
The Egyptian giants announced Riveiro signed a two-year deal, with his first assignment the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup where Al Ahly have been drawn in Group A alongside Palmeiras, Porto and Inter Miami.
