Pirates Open Stadium For CAFCC Clash

Orlando Pirates have confirmed that they will allow fans to watch their final CAF Confederations Cup group stage match against Al-Ittihad live at Orlando Stadium.

On Thursday, the Buccaneers confirmed that 15 000 tickets will go on sale for the clash, with a ticket costing R40.

The news come after the Premier Soccer League announced that supporters will be allowed domestic competitions in the stands from 8 and 9 April, but CAF regulations had already allowed fans in the stadium.

“Orlando Pirates is pleased to announce that tickets for the TotalEnergies Confederation Cup clash against Al-Ittihad Club from Libya are now available,” the club said on it’s website.

“It has been a long time coming and watching football on TV, with fake crowd sounds, is just not the same. The 12th man has been sorely missed up in the rafters and thankfully as of this weekend, South African supporters from across Mzansi can return to the stadium.

“There are only 15 000 stand tickets for this all-important top of the table clash which will be played at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.”

Pirates currently sit at the top of Group B with 12 points, winning four of their five games, and a draw will be enough to secure  the top spot on the log.

Al-Ittihad, meanwhile, who beat Pirates 3-2 in the reverse fixture are in second position with 10 points. They could still finish in first if they would beat the Buccaneers but also be overtaken by JS Saoura if they lose and the Algeria side would win their fixture against bottom-placed Royal Leopards.
