New Young Africans head coach Sead Ramovic has made his assessment of the squad and has called for improvement and more commitment from the players – or else they can leave.
Yanga started the campaign with 14 straight wins, but after back-to-back league defeats Miguel Gamondi was sacked and replaced by Sead Ramovic.
But things haven’t been smooth sailing for the former TS Galaxy head coach, as he started with two defeats in four games, winning two and drawing the other.
The outspoken Ramovic says he has now completed his first assessment of the squad and picked up a lack of fitness as one of the causes for these results. He has called for improvement from his players or they could leave the club.
“It took three weeks of course, and I started to know the qualities, weaknesses, and strengths of every player that we have,” Ramovic told the media.
“Like I said this club Young Africans stands for discipline, the right attitude, and commitment because that is what they showed the last three years to win titles to be in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
“Now it is time to see which players want to win the league, and which players are in their comfort zone. This is where we have to select the right players, everyone will have the same chances.
“We need fit players with the intensity that I would like to see because maybe the fitness is not at the level that I would like to see us, we are struggling that is a fact.
“It’s something that we can improve, this is how you can improve – you have to the right effort at training every day, if you don’t do it you won’t improve, if you are not willing to improve then maybe you are in the wrong club.
“This is what it is, I don’t know what was in the past but when I came I have to say this team was not fit. We have players that don’t have the right fitness, that’s why now it is the way we see.
“The players will improve, if they want. If they don’t want, I think then it’s time to find another club and this is how it is, we have to talk about the truth.”
