Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro was left highly impressed by his charges following a thumping 3-0 victory over Stade d’Abidjan at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Buccaneers toppled defending champions Al Ahly to move top of Group C with Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi and Deon Hotto all registering their names on the scoresheet as Pirates closed in on advancing to the knockout stage.
Riveiro expressed delight after the final whistle stating that it was important for them to win in a such way and that dominating the opponents was one thing they wanted and indeed achieved.
“A really good game from the boys, excellent attitude, excellent intention and well execution, ” Riveiro said in his post-match speech on SABC Sport.
“Well executed our plan. You always want more. We are playing a competition maybe a goal difference can play a role in the end.
“But we cannot complain about anything today, I think it was an extraordinary performance in every phase, not allowing opponents to play at all. We managed to do our pressing very well throughout 90 minutes and played well from the build-up. I think it’s really positive game for the team.

“It’s a good thing after four games to be leading the group, really difficult group just look at the names and you can understand that it’s not an easy thing.
“Still not enough in terms of points we are on eight now, two more games next one is here at home it seems like an important one again.”
