Rulani – Big Clubs Don’t Celebrate Draws

Wydad Athletic Club head coach Rulani Mokwena emphasized that the club won’t lower its level as a big club by celebrating draws as they aim for the league title.

Wydad has already had a better season than last, as they find themselves in fourth place with 24 points after 15 matches.

The Red Castle played back-to-back draws against ASFAR in a four-goal thriller and Renaissance Zemamra held them to a goalless draw.

These latest two draws took their draws tally to six this season same as second-placed ASFAR. Mokwena believes that they have set the standard in the first round and they can see that supporters don’t take draws which is the attitude and the mentality of big teams.

“The second half of the season is the one that makes me quietly proud and I think the fans of the club, the expectations have been raised now because even after the 0-0 against Zemamra nobody is happy and this is the attitude, and the mentality of the big club, big clubs do not celebrate draws,” Mokwena said.

“Looking at the first seven/eight matches I am a coach who is not satisfied. But being part of the process and respecting the process you see how there’s been great improvement thereafter.

“We’ve gone seven games without a defeat for the first time since 2023 this is very important because when you build something you want to build something that is sustainable. How you build something sustainable is knowing how you build it.”
