Self-critical Rulani Makes Lorch Admission

A self-critical Rulani Mokwena lifted his hands and admitted he made several mistakes in preparing his team for their latest clash and also says Thembinkosi Lorch and many of his teammates didn’t have a good game.

Mokwena’s five-match winning run with Wydad came to an end after they were held to a goalless draw by CODM Meknes on Saturday.

After the match, the South African tactician pointed out several issues on the day, starting with himself, but also lashed out at the quality of the pitch and the tension from the stands.

“The 90 minutes, I did not like,” he said.

“I did not like that I didn’t do enough to prepare the team for the game. I didn’t do enough tactically, I didn’t psychologically to make sure the team is ready for a performance.

“Difficult team, Meknes, they are a very difficult team to play against because they make a lot of fouls. They make the most fouls in Botola, to stop-start, stop-start, no rhythm in the game.

“So, I didn’t do enough as a coach, I didn’t do enough tactically because we started with a diamond, and it didn’t work. So, we had to change halfway in the first half.

“So, I don’t like and take full responsibility.”

He was then asked about the performances of January signings Mickael Malsa and Thembinkosi Lorch, who both started their first game for the club, admitting they didn’t have a good game – but insisted that can be said for most of his squad.

“They are good players,” he replied.

“Malsa is a good player, he will help us. We have to be patient and support him. And Lorch is a very good player also and he will [help us].

“Today, they didn’t play well, but it’s not only Lorch and Mas who didn’t play well today. I didn’t play well so…”
