Shalulile On CAF Record & How He Recovers

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has detailed that he prioritises the team before his personal achievements and opened up on his recovery journey before a match.

Shalulile has been magnificent in the CAF Champions League since joining Sundowns from Highlands Park in the 2020/21 season. The Namibian international made 45 appearances in the CAFCL scoring 18 goals becoming the first PSL player to do so.

The 31-year-old scored three crucial goals in the CAFCL this season – an equaliser against DRC side AS Maniema, against Moroccan side AS FAR which sealed their qualification to the knockout stage with the latest one being against ES Tunis which gave Sundowns an advantage going to the second leg in Tunisia.

“For me, it’s all about making sure that the team comes first and scores goals, and then we will get there when it’s time to see how far I am with records and all that,” Shalulile told the media.

The Sundowns striker also gave an insight on how he keeps himself fit and fresh despite the congested fixtures and tight schedule of the season which includes the traveling around the continent to compete in the CAF Champions League.

“You need to manage yourself off the pitch not only when you are training in terms of what you eat, what times you sleep, and the recovery you do at home.

“It is important because I always tell the guys when they ask me how I recover I tell the only thing I do is buy more ice at home and do recovery.

“I have people that cook for me so that what you do to recover and check all the schedules that are happening you need to be a professional player.”
