Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids FC have confirmed their starting line-ups for the CAF Champions League encounter at Loftus Versfeld Stadium this afternoon.
Sundowns will look to bounce back from last week’s CAF Champions League defeat against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi this afternoon.
Rulani Mokwena’s side are sitting top of the DStv Premiership after extending their lead in midweek when they defeated AmaZulu by 1-0 away from home to make it 10 wins from 10 games.
The African Football League champions have a chance to reclaim top spot in Group A after FC Nouadhibou played a goalless draw with Mazembe in Mauritania on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Pyramids had a lot of time to prepare for the clash. The Egyptian side arrived in South Africa on Monday, immediately after their loss against Nouadhibou.
The CAF Champions Legaue debutants will be without their talisman Fiston Mayele who had issues with getting a Visa to South Africa, while Bafana Bafana international Fagrie Lakay is expected to fill the void.
This is the first time these two sides face each other in the competition’s history. No Egyptian side has ever won against Sundowns on South African soil, both Zamalek SC and Al Ahly SC failed to do so.
