Percy Tau has set Egypt alight with his debut performance for Al Ahly and was praised by one of the club’s coaches for his two-goal show.
The South African winger finally made his debut for the Egyptian giants in their 4-0 Egyptian Premier League opener over Ismaily.
Tau scored his side’s second and third goal, but was denied a hat-trick in the second half after VAR review.
However, Al Ahly coach Samy Komsan was full of praise for Tau as well as coach Mosimane for luring him to Cairo after the match.
“Percy Tau is a very special player, and Pitso Mosimane knows his abilities well. Tau played in the Premier League and has a lot of experience,” he said, as per Kingfut.
“Mosimane gave him an opportunity like all the other players, and the coach won the bet. Tau is a huge addition to us and able to compete with Mohamed Sherif and Hossam Hassan. The variety of options is a win for the team.
“Ahmed Abdelkader is a special player and he performed well and scored a special goal. We were keen on having him back.”
Tau joined Al Ahly from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion during the recent transfer window but had to wait for his debut after picking up an injury during Bafana Bafana duty.
Al Ahly will now play Bank of Egypt in their second league fixture before facing bitter rivals Zamalek in the first derby of the season.
