Strikes from Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi & Deon Hotto handed Orlando Pirates a convincing 3-0 win over Stade d’Abidjan to top Group C.
Pirates started the game like a house on fire putting pressure on Stade d’Abidjan with Tshegofatso Mabasa nearly put Pirates in front after a glancing header just four minutes into the game.
Kabelo Dlamini took a wonderful shot from outside the box but Drissa Bamba was equal to the task as he made a brilliant save.
After pilling the pressure, in the 22nd minute Pirates took the lead after a good combination that was started by Patrick Maswanganyi, Dlamini and Mohau Nkota, with Relebohile Mofokeng easily making it 1-0.
Buccaneers kept on pushing for that insurance goal as Nkota took a shot from outside the box, but Bamba produced yet another save.
The first half ended with Pirates leading 1-0.
The second half kicked off and Pirates continued where they left off by doubling their lead five minutes into the second half as Maswanganyi cut through the defence of Stade d’Abidjan and made it 2-0.
Buccaneers sealed the three points in the 85th minute after Boitumelo Radiopane setup Deon Hotto for the third goal to see Jose Riveiro’s charges moved top of Group C.
