Tunisia Eye Former Chiefs Target After Broos Snub

The Tunisian Football Federation (TFF) have shortlisted ASFAR head coach Nasreddine Nabi as their potential new head coach as the Hugo Broos pursuit appears to be falling through.

The Tunisian mentor looks set to win the Botola Pro in his first season in charge of the Moroccan giants, leading the log with four points ahead of Josef Zinnbauer’s Raja Athletic Club.

Having become the first non-Moroccan African to coach the club, huge expectations were on Nabi’s shoulders, who won back-to-back trebles with Young Africans before his contract expired in Tanzania.

He’s lived up to it, after a deal with Kaizer Chiefs collapsed in the off-season, there’s been speculation Amakhosi may reignite their interest and while iDiski Times sources suggest that may be far off, the Tunisia job could appeal to the coach as currently amongst the most highly-rated ‘local’ coaches for the job at present.

The lure of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco is appealing but the current turmoil of the TFF President Wadie Jary currently in jail on charges of corruption, continues to leave the African giants in a state of limbo.

Tunisia were closely linked with Bafana mentor Hugo Broos, but the Belgian insisted he is not leaving his project after finishing third at the 2023 Africa cup of Nations.
