Zambia Include PSL Player In Squad For WC Qualifiers

The Zambian Football Federation has announced their 27-man squad for the upcoming back-to-back 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Morocco and Tanzania.

Chipolopolo got their qualifying campaign off to a flyer when they dispatched Congo 4-2 at home, before being brought back to earth by Niger who ran out narrow 2-1 victors.

Avram Grant’s men are in second position behind Group E leaders Morocco. Both teams share the same number of points (3), even though the Atlas Lions have played a game less.

Among the selected players, is SuperSport United winger Ghampani Lungu, who has recorded two goals and two assists in 21 DStv Premiership starts for Matsatsantsa this campaign.

Zambia travel to North Africa to take on Morocco on June 7 at Venue Stade d’Agadir and will look for an upset to improve their record against Africa’s best-ranked side.

In the seven encounters between the two teams, Zambia has won just one match, losing four. The other two ties have ended in a draw.

Against Tanzania, who they host on Matchday 4 on Tuesday, 11 June, Zambia has come out victorious on four occasions in nine outings. Three matches have ended in stalemates, suffering just two losses.
