Zinnbauer Opens Up On Tactical Battle With Nabi After Throne Cup

Raja Athletic Club head coach Josef Zinnbauer has praised ASFAR coach Nasreddine Nabi for how he set up his team in the Throne Cup final.

The former Orlando Pirates head coach, as well as his South African technical team including Fadlu Davids and Darian Wilken, finished the 2023/24 season with an unbeaten double after adding the Throne Cup to the Botola Pro title.

In the league, Raja only overtook Nabi’s ASFAR on the second-last day of the campaign, while Zinnbauer got the better of incoming Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi in Monday’s Throne Cup final.

“I have to say and I’m honest now, FAR is really the best team in the league after Raja Casablanca,” said the German tactician, who stayed unbeaten against Nabi across three games this season.

“It was very hard today tactically. Nabi made a top job tactically, the players from him – FAR played well tactically.

“It wasn’t easy for us today, but in the of the day I’m very proud of my team and say thank you again. Thank you for these two titles.”

It was Nabi’s final game in Morocco and he is now expected to travel to South Africa to take over Kaizer Chiefs, after parts of his coaching staff already started their work at Naturena.
