Bafana Bafana rounded off their unbeaten 2025 AFCON Qualification campaign with a deserved 3-0 thumping over minnows South Sudan at the DHL Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Just seven minutes in, and Bafana were 1-0 to the good courtesy of Iqraam Rayners after a well-teed up assist by Oswin Appollis.
In the 20th minute, Patrick Maswanganyi almost doubled Bafana’s lead after an assist by Appollis but Majak Mawith rushed off his line to produce a great stop.
‘Tito’ then made up for his early miss by making it 2-0 in the 22nd minute after Teboho Mokoena’s shot was parried into play by Mawith.
Rayners was denied his brace superbly by Mawith in the 29th minute in a one-on-one situation.
The visitors’ real chance only came in the 34th minute when Ronwen Williams, in his 50th cap, dived low to produce a save, as the hosts took the two-goal advantage into the break.
Bafana were awarded a penalty in the 49th minute after Khuliso Mudau was brought down in the box. Teboho Mokoena stepped up and converted to make it 3-0.
Fawaaz Basadien was unlucky to see his half volley in the 59th minute sail just wide off target.
The win saw Hugo Broos’ charges wrap up the qualifiers as Group K winners with 14 points, winning four matches and drawing two.
