Bayern Star Drops Out Of France Squad

Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard has dropped out of the France squad to face Bafana Bafana after testing positive for Covid-19, with William Saliba being called up as his replacement.

The 25-year-old has been a mainstay in Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus squad, making 42 appearances so far.

However, he will France’s upcoming friendlies against Ivory Coast and South Africa after testing positive for Covid-19.

He was replaced by 20-year-old William Saliba, who could make his senior debut for France, according to RMC Sport.

Saliba, who is on loan at Olympique Marseille from Arsenal, has featured in 28 out of 29 Ligue 1 games for Marseille this campaign.

Pavard is the second France star to miss the Bafana Bafana friendly after Karim Benzema also had to be replaced after picking up a cal f injury.

The Real Madrid striker was replaced by AC Milan’s Olivier Giroud.
