Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has announced his 38-man preliminary squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
South Africa have been drawn in Group K alongside Uganda, Congo and South Sudan, kicking of their campaign against the Cranes on 6 September.
They will then travel to South Sudan for a tough away encounter four days later.
Bafana are currently on an eight-match unbeaten streak, with their last defeat coming at the 2023 AFCON on penalties against Nigeria, while their last defeat after 90 minutes dates back to January 2024 when they lost 2-0 to Mali.
There are some new faces in the squad, including Vitesse FC striker Simon van Duivenbooden after he received his SA passport as revealed by iDiski Times and Orlando Pirates’ Thalente Mbatha. Meanwhile, IFK Varnamo midfielder Luke Le Roux has also returned.
