Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has explained his decision on three notable starters against Panama in Cape Town this evening.
While he stated when camp began that Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Bongokhule Hlongwane would not start the first game due to their gruelling travelling from the United States of America – Jayden Adams and Relebohile Mofokeng also make their way into the XI.
Broos admits he’s giving the two players, who have been out the squad for the past two years a chance to establish themselves again.
“Mbokazi it was jet-leg, it was not a good idea to start him in Durban, with seven hours difference in time zone, so today he’s there,” Broos told SABC Sport.
“Hlongwane long time not with us, so I want to see how he plays, his behavior and Jayden hasn’t played here in two years, he played well then but then he had a stupid thing he did, he was out the team but now he gets his chance again after performing well with Sundowns.”
Broos also expressed his excitement about the sold-out affair at the DHL Stadium in the Mother City.
“It’s amazing when you compare to three four years ago with four, five thousand people now we have 55,000, we hope to give them an amazing evening,” he concluded.
