Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has insisted he will not play Relebohile Mofokeng on the wing anymore, but rather sees him as a number 10.
Mofokeng, 21, has made 10 appearances for Bafana so far, but most of them coming on the left wing.
However, after his club coach Abdeslam Ouaddou recently switched him more often in the number 10 role, Broos admitted he will do the same, as he feels the Pirates star doesn’t have the qualities “to be a good winger”.
“He’s not a winger, Rele is not a winger,” he told reporters.
“I will see now if I can satisfy us in that position [no.10]. For me he will not play anymore on the wings, because I don’t think he’s a winger.
“He doesn’t have the qualities to be a good winger. I think he has the qualities to be a good number 10.
“Because there with his intelligence, with his qualities, he can help the team a lot.
“It’s up to him now, I will give him the chance and we will see what that brings.”
Mofokeng, who has four goals and three assists in his last eight Betway Premiership games, was recently named Player of the Month January/February.
His fine form has helped the Buccaneers in their title push, but he is yet to cement a starting XI spot in the national team under Broos.
