Hugo Broos has named a 36-member preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for next month’s friendly matches against Eswatini and Côte d’Ivoire.
Unsurprisingly the squad is dominated by Mamelodi Sundowns players, with ten players from the Brazilians selected.
Six Orlando Pirates players have been called up, including an opportunity for Sipho Chaine in the goalkeepers selection.
Four Kaizer Chiefs have been selected, including new signing Sibongiseni Mthethwa. Interestingly all four Chiefs players called up are players who have only joined the club in recent months.
There are also four players from SuperSport United, including teenage defender Ice Okon.
Eight foreign-based players have been called up, while Sekhukhune United, AmaZulu, TS Galaxy and Cape Town City all have one player selected.
Bafana will host Eswatini on 13 October 2023, before travelling to play Côte d’Ivoire on 17 October.
