Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says there has been no disciplinary issues in camp apart from Mbekezeli Mbokazi’s matter.
The statement come at the back of Mbokazi arriving late in the last home camp before heading to the AFCON this week because of reasons the coach wouldn’t disclose though he felt and recreated very strongly to it in his press conference on Wednesday.
The coach said the Mbokazi situation is an isolated incident. He also admitted that occasionally there is some lateness which he addresses calmly and that he has spoken to the players about what he wants, and they have all complied which makes his job easy.
“You know, it’s very easy with that group,” said Broos.
“I never had problems in the past. There have been some moments that I have to have a chat with the group and tell them ‘Guys, I will not accept that anymore’. But everyone knows now when they are coming to Bafana Bafana, what I want. Okay, this is something special what happened to Mbokazi but again, I will react and he will know, and he will never do that again, you can be sure.
“But for the rest, it happens that sometimes someone is still sleeping, and didn’t hear the alarm, and then come maybe one or two minutes too late. Okay, you tell them very, very nicely that ‘hey guy, okay, okay’ that’s all.
“So, this group is also a group that is very disciplined in everything, so it becomes more easy for me. I don’t have to every day tell them ‘Hey, you are too late, hey this and that’ no. It goes automatically and he can witness that he was with us. There’s never happening something like that, or it is occasionally.
“So, I don’t have problems with that, not at all, and I have to congratulate the players for the discipline they have from themselves.”
