Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says he plans to use the friendly match against Ghana as an opportunity to give new players a chance.
Bafana will face Ghana’s CHAN team in a preparation match on Tuesday afternoon before leaving for Morocco on Wednesday, with the match set to kick off at 16:00 at Dobsonville Stadium.
FCSB defender Siyabonga Ngezana was the last player to join the camp in Gauteng, while CD Tondela midfielder Sphephelo Sithole, played on Monday as his side lost 3-1 to CD Nacional, Lyle Foster and Shandre Campbell are traveling straight to Morocco.
Despite these small obstacles, Broos says he remains calm and plans to field players who have played less for Bafana, so they can adapt to the team.
“There should be a difference if everybody was here. Yes, we would play with maybe the team who will start AFCON and we could even make corrections if it’s possible,” Broos told the media.
“But now because they are not there I think I can give the opportunity to players who didn’t play till now with Bafana Bafana or who didn’t play so much, for example Matuludi.
“I think we can give him a chance to play with the team to adapt a little bit with the way we are playing. So, I said it’s a training game, not a selection game but on the other side we want to win it.
“So don’t think that we take game for laugh. So we will play like we always play and try like to win it but again sometimes you have to take the bad things for good and the good things now is that because those players are not there then we can give play time to the other players.”
