Cameroon Legend Makes Bold Bafana Claim

Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Roger Feutmba has issued a strong statement about Bafana Bafana ahead of their quarter-final showdown against his home nation, Cameroon.

The two sides are set to face off on Sunday, 4 January at the Al Barid Stadium in Rabat with kick-off scheduled for 21:00.

The two teams last met during the AFCON qualifiers in 2016, where both group-stage encounters ended in draws — first 2–2, followed by a goalless 0–0.

Overall, the two nations have met nine times, with Bafana Bafana recording three wins, one defeat and five draws.

Feutmba admits that before the tournament, he did not expect the Indomitable Lions to reach the knockout stages due to the FA’s battles with their former coach and squad selection issues.

The Sundowns legend believes Bafana hold the upper hand over his country ahead of this AFCON clash.

“I’ve enjoyed the football at the AFCON. There have been some very good games,” said Feutmba on Radio 2000.

“But I didn’t think that Cameroon would qualify for the knockouts, considering the turmoil before the tournament. But I think Bafana have an advantage.”
