Chiefs Star Opens Up On AFCON Snub

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Pule Mmodi has spoken about missing out on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with Bafana Bafana, saying he would have loved to have been there.

Bafana finished on the podium in third place at the event held in Ivory Coast , collecting the first bronze medal since 2000.

Mmodi has three caps for the national senior team and was last in the squad in September last year for the international friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo.

The 31-year-old spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in edition 153 of the newspaper where he also revealed that it is on him to keep working hard to attract the national team selectors again.

“It was, it was sore. It’s a [bitter] pill to swallow,” Mmodi told iDiski Times.

“I think I must just keep on working hard to be in the national team and I’m willing to do that because I know myself. I’m a hard worker.

“No, I’ve never had a conversation with the national team coach. But from my side I think it’s all about hard work so that I can have my spot back in the national team.

“What I can say is that I’ll always keep working hard.”
