Doctor Names His Current Top 5 SA Stars

Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo has named his current top five players in South Africa.

’16V’, one of SA’s greatest ever players, who is still loved among the masses to this day, has recently joined 10Bet as an official ambassador.

Khumalo himself was a major pillar in Bafana’s squad after the re-admission of South Africa to FIFA in 1992, scoring the only goal in Mzansi’s first official international match – 1-0 win over Cameroon.

He was also a crucial part of the 1996 AFCON-winning squad and represented Bafana at the 1998 World Cup, while making his name in club football at Chiefs before brief stints with Ferro Carril Oeste in Argentina and Columbus Crew in the Major League Soccer.

As part of his new ambassador role with 10Bet, Khumalo discussed his five “current top ballers” and picked up two Mamelodi Sundowns stars.

“I really love all of them and they mean a lot to us as a nation,” he said.

“But based on the question, I would’ve loved to say the entire squad, but I’ll probably say Ronwen Williams, and then you have Lyle Foster, Percy Tau, Bongi Hlongwane and the last one is Themba Zwane.”

Khumalo also discussed his new role with Bafana’s official betting partner.

“We don’t disrespect the fact that the likes of those bog names fans like Mama Joy all of them, but we want the reality matter in terms of somebody that has walked the path to rub shoulders with the current players, to bring that spark within the nation,” he added.

“Because I’ve tasted how it like feels to be mobbed, to be celebrated, to be part of the national team.

“That all also escalated everything on the field, off the field. So these this is what they want, and 10Bet and that’s what they’re aiming to do, so I’m more than ready to do that because I cannot afford to have empty seats again when Bafana Bafana is playing, not with the kind of players we have at the moment.”
