Egypt and Bafana Bafana have announced their respective starting line-ups for tonight’s CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifiers second leg clash at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismaila.
The two sides could not cancel each other out in the first leg in Bloemfontein as the tie ended 1-1 with the Pharaohs breaking the deadlock in the 66th minute from Mohamed Hassan Hashem Abdelaal.
Jamie Webber then stepped up to save Bafana from the jaws of defeat with a thunderous 30-yard shot to beat Egypt captain and goalkeeper Mahmoud Mohamed Kassem in the 80th minute and ensure a share of the spoils.
Captain Neo Maema has admitted that it will be a tough encounter but maintained confidence in his colleagues in order to come out winners in the match.
“We know that playing in Egypt is always very tough. I mean, we have a somewhat good record against them, but playing away from home and playing in their own backyard is going to be very difficult,” he said according to safa.net.
“But the guys look expectant, looking forward to it and making sure that we put the country and the team into the next round.
“They look very, very, very lively. And, yeah, we’re expecting a difficult match, but a match that we certainly can overcome as a team.”
