Following Bafana Bafana’s elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, head coach Hugo Broos has admitted that it is time to evaluate his squad.
South Africa lost 2-1 to Cameroon in Rabat on Sunday to exit the tournament at the last 16 round stage, a far cry from their third-place finish in Ivory Coast two years ago.

Having missed clear scoring opportunities against the Indomitable Lions in the early stages of their game in Rabat, the coach was asked if the attacking department would be one of the areas he’d be scrutinising and he said his overall evaluation will not be immediate.
“As I said already I think in the next days, weeks it’s time now to evaluate this AFCON,” said Broos.
“[And] what we also did two years ago and see what was good and what was not good, and the bad things try to make it better. We will see.
“I can make declarations now, but you know when you lose a game like this and you are eliminated from the AFCON you are frustrated; you are sad, you are disappointed and sometimes you say things that you regret afterwards.
“So, I will not do that, but I agree with you that we have to evaluate our performances here in this AFCON and see what we can make then.”
