iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has labelled Bafana Bafana’s 5-0 thrashing of Congo Brazzaville as one of the team’s best games, singling out Teboho Mokoena and Aubrey Modiba’s contribution.
Man-of-the-Match winner Mokoena scored a brace having been dropped by Mamelodi Sundowns in the opening matches of the league. The other goals came from Bathusi Aubaas, Lyle Foster and Iqraam Rayners while Oswin Appollis provided a hat-trick of assists.
The result saw Bafana remain in second position in Group K equal on seven points with first-placed Uganda. Should Bafana win away in Congo next Tuesday, they will seal qualification for Morocco in 2025.
Khanye believes Congo were a weaker opponent however hailed the 2023 AFCON bronze medallists for taking their chances, a good team effort and for playing to their strength.
“Our performance today, I think it was the best performance,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“It’s one of the best games if not the best game because we were allowed to receive the ball and we played according to our strength.
“I think the whole team performed and individually, yes, I single out [Teboho] Mokoena because yes you can all perform well, but you need one or two players that will be outstanding. [Aubrey] Modiba and Mokoena were outstanding for me.”
