Bafana Bafana left-back Lyle Lakay has revealed he managed to get Lucas Digne’s shirt after Bafana Bafana’s 5-0 defeat in their friendly against France.
Lakay started the game at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille, which was dominated by the world champions who showed no mercy, having 25 total shots at Ronwen Williams’ goal.
After the game some Bafana players had the opportunity to swap shirts with the opposition players who they usually only see on tv and Lakay revealed he got the jersey of left-back Digne.
“I got Lucas Digne’s jersey. Obviously he is a left-back and I also wanted his jersey,” Lakay told Bafana’s media team.
“If I go back home now am obviously gonna reflect to see what I can improve. That’s what I do even at club level.
“I look at people that play in Europe in my position or full-backs for example. He is one of the players, obviously he is playing at Aston Villa and they are playing good football at the moment.
“It’s him, Joao Cancelo, then you got Jordi Alba. So obviously for me it was good feeling playing against him and getting his jersey.”
