Links Breaks Silence On Bafana Omission

Aarhus Gymnastikforening’s Gift Links has broken his silence following his exclusion from the Bafana Bafana squad, despite his outstanding performance at club level.

Since joining AGF from Cape Town City in 2019, Links has been stationed in Europe, specifically Denmark.

Throughout his six-year tenure, the 27-year-old has played a pivotal role for AGF, yet his remarkable achievements have not garnered a national team call-up.

He accumulated 200 appearances, scoring 18 goals and registering 23 assists. This season has been particularly notable, with Links earning multiple selections to the Danish SuperLiga team of the week.

He has made 29 appearances for AGF this season, scoring five goals and registering six assists.

As AGF stands poised to secure the Danish SuperLiga title for the first time since 1986, Links’ contributions have been significant.

Nonetheless, he has been omitted from the Bafana Bafana squad scheduled to face Panama in two friendly matches preceding the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

“All I can do is play as much as possible here and help my team,” Links told Campo.

“That’s the most important thing. I’m not going to go ahead and ask, “Why am I not being drafted?” That’s not up to me.

“The most important thing is that I continue to work hard and whatever happens, happens. That’s my mentality.”
