Bafana Bafana towering striker Evidence Makgopa is looking to repay the faith shown in him by coach Hugo Broos as he makes a return to the national team fold.
Makgopa has rediscovered his goalscoring form once again, netting six goals in 16 outings across all competitions so far this campaign as Orlando Pirates keeps grip of the Betway Premiership top spot with seven wins out of seven.
Speaking to the media ahead of South Africa’s penultimate 2025 AFCON Qualifier away to Uganda on Friday, the 24-year-old Bucs frontman admis that he doesn’t want to disappoint Broos.
“The only thing I can say, you don’t want to disappoint such a person who have faith on you,” Makgopa told the media.
“So, the only thing you have to do for him is just to push when you give him a chance.
“You just have to work for him, do whatever you have to do.”

“For me I knew it’s gonna be tough,” he further said.
“You know always when you have injury, it’s tough. Mentally it can affect you but you have to be strong at some point.
“For me, I’m glad when I came back, I had a place to start on the bench cause it’s tough also in my team to be on the bench truly speaking.
“So, I can say I’m fortunate enough I managed to come back. Even now I knew if I can play maybe, I can make my way back to Bafana.
“It’s good to back in the team,” Makgopa added.
