Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare has discussed being selected for Bafana Bafana ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali.
The 32-year-old is the oldest player in the current Bafana squad after Hugo Broos included him in his squad for the friendlies against Guinea and France.
There has been a lot of noise around the omission of Jali but Monare insisted he’s only focussing on his job with the national team.
“My job is on the field. I don’t dwell too much what is happening on the media or on social media,” he said when asked about Jali.
“I feel like people have a right to their opinion and I also have a right to my opinion but it doesn’t really matter to some other people.
“My job is to represent my country on the field, not on social media. I really don’t look at those things.
“My focus now is to represent my country well, the best way that I can and we move forward.”
Bafana face Guinea on 25 March before meeting world champions France on 29 March.
