Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango has spoken about his ambitions of representing South Africa.
Msimango was called up in the preliminary squad to face Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in May this year but did not make the final cut, while his former TS Galaxy teammates Andile Mbunjana and Bathusi Aubaas made the team, with Msimango saying he was happy for them and proud of them.
He was again named in the current provisional squad for this month’s friendlies against Eswatini and the Ivory Coast, with Broos announcing his final selection on Thursday.
The 26-year-old has played 11 matches for Amakhosi in all competitions so far this season but was rested in their 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City.
He recently spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in edition 123 of the newspaper where he said he wants to play for Bafana but will be patient and hopeful that his turn will come.
“I’m always a hopeful guy, you know,” said Msimango.
“I trust in my abilities and I know what I do on and off the pitch and that will be rewarded eventually. It may not be now, it may not be tomorrow but I know in the future something will happen for me”
“So I’m always calm when it comes to that and I know the environment that I’m in is an environment that promotes growth as well. So I’m constantly growing as an individual and I’m getting better”
