Pitso Mosimane has announced a 30-man Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, including 12 new players compared to Hugo Broos’ World Cup squad.

Bafana wrote history under Broos, reaching the knockout stages for the first time in history. However, Broos decided to step down after five years with Bafana, with Mosimane appointed as his successor.

On Thursday, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach confirmed his first selection for the national team, cutting down his initial 35-man squad to 30 names.

There were several ‘new’ faces compared to Broos’ most recent selection, including Orlando Pirates duo Yanela Mbuthuma and Lebone Seema.

Mosimane also recalled Sundowns’ stars Fawaaz Basadien, Bathusi Aubaas, Cassius Mailula and Thapelo Morena.

Kaizer Chiefs have one representative in the squad, with Lebohang Maboe, while Durban City’s Brooklyn Poggenpoel also made the selection.

Overseas-based players Puso Dithejane, Shandre Campbell and Luther Singh are also part of Mosimane’s new selection, with the coach confirming he will give young players a chance to shine.
