SAFA Cape Town are hoping to bring Bafana Bafana’s AFCON qualifier against Morocco to Cape Town in June.
Bafana and Morocco have both already qualified for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cote d’Ivoire, but the two nations will still meet in June to conclude the group.
iDiski Times has learnt that Cape Town are hoping to host that game, and SAFA Cape Town President, and national vice-president, Bennet Bailey confirmed to this paper that they have put in a bid to host the fixture.
Bailey confirmed this after over 12,000 fans packed into Athlone Stadium on Monday to watch the Bayhill Premier Cup final between Cape Town Spurs and Grassy Park’s U19 teams, which the latter won.
Bafana were last in Cape Town in 2015, when they hosted Angola at the Cape Town Stadium.
The most recent Bafana games have been played at Orlando Stadium, Mbombela Stadium and FNB Stadium, with attendance in all of them very low.
