Nigeria have somewhat surprisingly dropped two points at home against world number 153 Lesotho in Bafana Bafana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification group.
The African qualifiers have kicked off this week, with Hugo Broos’ men in action on Saturday when they host Benin.
But Bafana’ group started on Thursday already, with the Super Eagles hosting Lesotho. But, while many thought Nigeria would collect an easy win, they dropped two points in a 1-1 draw.
Lesotho even scored the opener via Motlomelo Mkwanazi in the 56th minute, but Nigeria spared some blushes thanks to Semi Ajayi equalising after 67 minutes.
Nigeria dropped the points, despite featuring a strong line-up, which included Europe-based Victor Boniface, Taiwo Awoniyi, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho.
