Official: Broos Calls Up Bafana Replacement

Hugo Broos has called up Yaya Sithole to replace midfielder Luke le Roux in his latest Bafana Bafana squad.

The news were confirmed by Sithole’s club, Tondela, after Le Roux had to withdraw from the 23-man squad.

Bafana will face Namibia and DR Congo in the upcoming break, with the games set to take place on 9 and 12 September at Orlando Stadium.

Sithole had made the initial 36-man squad for the two friendly matches but was dropped from the final selection by the Belgian tactician.

The towering midfielder made his national team debut under Broos in June in a 2-1 defeat to Morocco.

He has since featured five times for Bafana, starting in three of those matches.

The national team are currently on a seven-match unbeaten streak, winning five and drawing two, with their latest victory over Africa’s highest-ranked team Morocco earning them the top spot in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group ahead of the final round of fixtures.
