Panama coach Thomas Christiansen has revealed the reason why they are playing Bafana Bafana and why it will be beneficial for them.
Panama is scheduled to face South Africa on Friday evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with kick-off set for 19:00, before meeting again on Tuesday at DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

Christiansen noted that spending some time in the country and playing two matches is ideal for his squad, as it allows him to rotate the team and give valuable game time to all players.
He emphasised that the main reason for choosing Bafana as opponents is to ensure Panama are well-prepared for their upcoming clash against Ghana national football team in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He believes South Africa has many similarities with the Black Stars of Ghana.
“Yes, well, the reason why we chose South Africa is because we are facing Ghana in the World Cup, an African team,” said Christiansen.
“And there are many things similar in one team and another, and that’s our preparation for that World Cup.
“The thing that we have to play two games against South Africa, for me it’s not a problem.
“It’s an advantage to stay in the same place, play two games, giving time to each player to show himself. And again, the most important thing is that we can use these games for the preparation.”
