Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has provided an update on the team’s goalkeeper coach position as he continues to finalise his technical team.

Mosimane replaced Hugo Broos as head coach and has since brought in members of his preferred technical staff. Performance analyst Musi Matlaba and fitness and conditioning coach Kabelo Rangoaga have joined the setup, with both also holding coaching qualifications.

Morena Ramoreboli, the former Botswana national team head coach, has also been appointed as Mosimane’s assistant.

Following the departure of goalkeeper coach Grant Johnson, Mosimane confirmed that an appointment for the position is still to be announced.

However, he revealed that the role could potentially be filled on a part-time basis.

“We will have the goalkeeper coach, we will call them when the time comes,” said Mosimane.

“You must also understand, some of these people are not full time. We negotiate with clubs, make sure they are available.

“We have sent a few call-up letters. When the time is right, we will tell you same as what we did with coach Morena.

“If you jump the gun early and then…so we will have a goalkeeper coach, that’s 100%. You can’t have goalkeepers without a goalkeeper coach.

“But as we know, all these guys are part timers, these ones [Kabelo Rangoaga and Musi Matlaba] are always with me.”
