Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo Sithole has opened up on the support he’s received from his camp following the horrors of the opening game at the ongoing FIFA World Cup against Mexico two weeks ago.

Sithole, 27, endured a testing World Cup debut against the co-hosts where he made the mistake that led Bafana conceding the first goal in the 2-0 defeat.

He was also sent off in that game just before Themba Zwane suffered the same fate leaving South Africa to finish the game with nine men in Azteca.

Unlike Mshishi, Sithole is available for selection for the Group A decider against South Korea in Monterrey on Thursday morning.

He told the media in a pre-match press conference carried on the SuperSport YouTube channel how everyone has been supportive including coach Hugo Broos.

“I know that I didn’t have a good game in the first game,” said Yaya.

“But I think the response that I got from the team was good. Everyone was supportive, even the coach as well. He supported me very well.

“So, I’m very grateful for that. And I think that’s what makes us a very good team because other than the team in our group, we have very good human beings.”
