Former Bafana Bafana midfield maestro Benedict Vilakazi has compared young defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi to Brazil legend Roberto Carlos.
The 20-year-old put in a solid display in the heart of defence for Bafana who beat Angola 2-1 in their Group B AFCON opener on Monday night.

Angola Coach On Bafana Defeat
Just a few days ago, the former Orlando Pirates centre-back got himself into trouble with head coach Hugo Broos after his late arrival in camp. The new Chicago Fire signing however put all that behind him to aid South Africa to the victory.
‘Tso’ boldly claimed that Mbokazi can be compared to the former Real Madrid left-back after rattling the crossbar from well over 40 yards out with a thunderous strike.
“Mbokazi is boss! Tso said on iDiski TV.
“He’s more matured than Ngezana. How he helps that defence in covering Ngezana. How he’s going in, in terms of picking and getting the ball.
“Look at the shot that he took. In this moment of football, give me one defender than Mbokazi that can take a shot like that. The last one was Roberto Carlos. Let’s go back to the history of football.
“I don’t remember a centre-back unleashing such shots. The last person I saw was Roberto Carlos who did the similar thing.
“This boy he’s growing and for me, this is one player that whatever happens, he must always be safe [from injuries].
“Because if anything will happen to him and Tebza [Teboho Mokoena], and [Ronwen] Williams, maybe I’ll be in hospital. I don’t really think I’ll survive.”
