iDiski TV analyst Benedict Tso Vilakazi has explained why he’d still opt to sticking with starting Iqraam Rayners ahead of Yanela Mbuthuma despite the latter’s impact in Bafana Bafana’s 2-1 win over Guinea in the 2027 AFCON qualifier.
Rayners started the group D opener but didn’t get a goal and was replaced by the Orlando Pirates forward in the 68th minute. The Orlando Pirates striker later on provided the assist for the winning goal that helped Bafana command pole position in group D with three points.
Tso acknowledged and praised Mbuthuma’s impact, however, believes Bafana don’t have many options upfront. So, it makes sense for him to have the Mamelodi Sundowns forward continue to start.
“I will go with Rayners again because remember it’s not about only this game,” said Tso on IDiski TV.
“There’s another game on Wednesday. There’s another game again on the weekend and there is not only these three games.”
“We are still going to need Rayners we don’t have another one. So we want to make sure that Rayners comes at his best, compete, also Mbuthuma rise up to say Rayners if you’re not going to do it, I’m going to do it.”
“So we need those two boys to make sure that they pull up their socks both of them.”
