Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has addressed the team’s struggles to keep clean sheets at AFCON.
Bafana were eliminated from the tournament after suffering a 2-1 loss to Cameroon in the Round of 16 on Sunday evening.
They let in six goals in a total of four matches they played – three group-stage games and a Last 16 clash.
Williams said they had been known as a defensively solid side, especially after keeping clean sheets in several matches at the previous tournament.
He believes conceding goals is a concern that the team must address and an important lesson heading into the future.
“Obviously, we’ve been known to be very solid as a team,” said Williams on SABC Sport.
“We’ve kept a lot of clean sheets over the years. At the previous AFCON, we broke the record.
“Now you see the amount of goals we conceded in this tournament, obviously it’s a concern.
“It’s things we have to work on, we know as a team what’s been going on. We have a lot of things to work on and lessons to take.”
